A word to the wise re: ECS nForce4-A939 boards from Fry’s
First, XP will usually simply detect the second processor and go through the HAL and kernel changes automatically. Going down from High to Medium doesn’t help though. XP cannot change its HAL hardware abstraction layer to support the second core without registry editing or a reinstall.
Before flashing I made sure the protect jumper was set to not protected. Then I used the guide by uddarts read it all which shows these settings that i used: We’re not on Socket 5 anymore.
I finally ended up buying a different motherboard from Newegg, because I’ve got a dead nForce4-A sitting in my closet that is worthless now. If anyone have any insights on this, please share.

If XP actually still loads for you, try using this older WinFlash version, again following the instructions from the forum link I posted I think you did everything right with the WinFlash settings.
